A Home Away

Every child deserves the chance to explore beyond their postcode. Every family deserves a break from the everyday. Yet for too many, a holiday is simply out of reach. 

A Home Away is a new platform on a mission to change that — by unlocking the potential of second homes across the UK and transforming them into powerful tools for social good. 

We match second homeowners with families who have never had the opportunity to go away. Whether they’re facing financial hardship, caring for loved ones, or rebuilding after crisis, these families are carefully chosen and supported to enjoy what many take for granted — a chance to rest, to breathe, and to be together in a new place. 

 A 2023 survey by Action for Children found that 8% of UK families—equating to approximately 700,000 families—reported they had never been on a family holiday.

This statistic underscores the significant number of children missing out on the enriching experiences that holidays can provide. Time away from daily routines offers opportunities for learning, development, and creating lasting family memories. By facilitating access to holidays for families who might otherwise go without, initiatives like A Home Away aim to bridge this gap and promote well-being across communities.
